I agree with you but they hold a monopoly on violence. They will use that monopoly to either jail you, or kill you, which I then presume would lead to a violent uprising or a submission to the states monopoly on violence.

Well, the US government can easily exceed the Sri Lankan government in the violence department and the whole situation was, and continues to be violent.
It isn't that easy in the UK to not pay energy bills as you will be put on a prepayment meter which can now be done remotely for those on smart meters.
