Years ago it was something like $69 billion, and discussing this with a patient, and sweet intelligent lady from Cuba, she had a minor diplomatic job but made several trips a month, and always brought me awesome Cuban bread straight from Havana, anyway she said do you know how much money that would take?
I told her, it is fairly estimated at 69 Billion.
"You Americans could never afford that.", she said.
I said, "Sixty Nine billion out of a budget of Thee Thousand Eight Hundred Billion? We spend more on the Coast Guard." but not even knowing if that was true.
She sat down in a chair in the pharmacy waiting area, and said "Wow, your government really has everybody snowed, don't they?"
I looked at this former Cuban refugee, now gainfully employed by the government, and told her, "I'll bet you thought Castro and the Soviets were crooked."
She could only manage a single word answer, "Yes."
