They're struck down, suffering and miserable, the demons.
They hate all creation including themselves.
We need God to bind the demons, but the humans need to reject sin and the demons associated with these sins.
This is a difficult situation when humanity turns its back on God or refuses to acknowledge him at all - the demons can be active, and people actively call upon and/or passively enable the demons through this rejection of God and right worship.
Reading the books of Kings and Chronicles is instructive in this matter. It has happened before with miserable outcome. Especially for Israel (the tribe, not the modern country).
