Up in Burlington, VT this week. For all the issues I have with progressive politics there is something to be said for the number of bike commuters, junk antique stores and other retail and service providers of crafted, repurposed, restored and salvaged goods. Locally sourced food including a bread basket of organic farms and gardening outlets are nearby. If you are thinking of relocating to an area with water, food and less tinder consider interior New England or the northern tier of Pennsylvania. In PA there are plenty of affordable properties and vacant retail space for homespun goods and services. Keep this in mind when we are holding onto the end of the rope. The softest landing we may hope for is one where the people who think ahead prepare a local safety net. Best wishes!
