Yet more seem to be expanding their awareness. My guess is there will be true overstepping which will mute the drip drip drip and slow raising of the temperature in the pot and show in a way virtually impossible to unsee what almost are complicit with. How long
for that, who knows. It comes closer yet the plate spinning has been quite masterful.
This conversation likely would have been quite different 2 years ago. In that I find hope.
and the question keeps falling to "what to do..." how do I respond in a meaningful way? we have been excessively programmed to believe that lives (and our own lives especially) are precious, so we become enslaved to remain g alive, even when a life of slavery may not be truly worth living. I have been programmed to seek comfort and convenience and avoid pain and difficulty. The short term takes priority over the long term.
So I kick the can down the road, unwilling to commit to change, making postings and gnashing my teeth occasionally in annoyance.
I am taking small steps: i am not complying with illegal and non-sensical mandates or restrictions to my fundamental liberties. I am willing to accept the unpleasant outcomes that may result.
I am reducing my complicity by consuming less, and being more intentional of what
i do consume and the organizations that provide those goods and services
that my transactions support.
I am also eating more whole foods and purchasing much less manufactured or processed foods.
I am becoming more fit and making my body string so that i am more resilient.
I prepare my home to support me should the clearly frail supply chains become undone.
I don't give as much time, attention, and focus to that which is profiteering on it and clearly out to get me.
i donate to causes that support my values
I support others (i invest my time) in my community in ways that allow for personal
growth.
I spend far less time debating with others who are "wrong" and instead seek to see commonality and mutual needs.
My belief is that by preparing myself and being a part of my community I will enable myself and others to act more resolutely should the opportunity or need present itself.
At some point, i and others will have had enough will have been pushed too far and the attempts to control and enslave so brazen that not responding leads to a future so devoid of value that any risks to treasure or security or bodily harm are worthwhile.
That's the how - step outside of the system. let it operate without me. and trust others to do the same. when a tipping point is reached, oppression will ramp up and others will make a new choice for themselves.
I truly believe we have the society we deserve - the one we allow. When enough are willing to risk then change can come.
and who wants to lose what we have worked so hard for so long to obtain? the "at what cost" bar keeps being raised or lowered, depending on your perspective.

Thanks for writing about more people expanding our awareness. That’s luminous. My post was pretty bleak.

I agree with you that we have been socially conditioned to be risk averse, to conform. “Safety first” and all that rot.
