Not wishing to minimize the importance of this information but I think it’s prudent to be cautiously analytical. I’m a 66 year-old male. My mom was born in 1920 and is deceased. She had hypothyroidism, aka: Hashimoto's. I wound up with it in 2010. It’s unusual for it to show up in men. Guess I got the gene. But here’s the thing, had I developed symptoms ten years later then read this I’d probably be sure covid was the trigger. I’ve run into similar scenarios where I’ve had to remind loved ones the symptoms they’re sure are long covid were there before covid. It’s tough because I’d never wish to minimize anyone’s legitimate suffering but I also hate for people to worry needlessly. A proverbial double edged sword ensues. It’s akin to the racism argument. During my lifetime I’ve encountered treatment by people that if I were black I’d be certain was due to racism. But sometimes people, life, and circumstances are what they are and just plain suck.
