Please read Dr Robert Yoho's book "Surviving Healthcare" and the chapter on Prostate Cancer. I can tell you from experience that PSA numbers are almost meaningless. Although My Husband died from Melanoma, 12 years ago he had a NEEDLESS robotic prostatectomy that left him completely impotent before that. Thank God he was not incontinent. He had NO SYMPTOMS except a "high" PSA score. If your husband feels fine but just has a high score, don't do ANYTHING until you research it and talk to men who have "been there." Most men die with a high PSA or enlarged prostate or even prostate cancer - BUT because it is so slow growing it is not a high enough risk to warrant the catastrophic side effects of surgery. I give this warning to everyone I know because of my experience. So sad. We were both young and it ruined our love life :-(
