Dear Celia, I appreciate your outrage, but the “government” has been in the business of trampling on our civil rights and civil liberties since the Palmer raids in 1917. The government set out to destroy the Black Panther Party, and did. They tried to destroy Dr. King. They covered up the murders of their own prison guards at Attica, and the list goes on and on.

For the January 6 defendants, the US attorney is overcharging, asking for unreasonable bail to effectively force a guilty plea, putting pre-trial detainees in terrible prison conditions and basically running a railroad, not a judicial process.

But guess what? This is how the system works for everyone they go after, with one exception. Wealthy, white collar defendants with high-powered lawyers are able to fight back and get treated differently.

For the rest of us, guilty until proven innocent. It's a two tiered system. One for those with money, and another for those without.

But I'll bet you dollars to donuts that the same folks, like Tucker Carlson, who rightfully see the injustice with the January 6 defendants will not run a story on the Uhhuru case in Florida. Nor will he do a story supporting radical change in the federal judiciary, including things as simple as more funds for federal public defenders.

I've seen this story before. The GOP and the Dem's play ping-pong with people's lives, but the system never changes because it serves the moneyed classes that own both parties.
