Actually, not quite. It takes time for the antibodies to develop, so effectiveness is not ensured. It is given at the time of a tetanus prone wound, but paired with tetanus immune globulin, that has its own issues.
Tetanus is ubiquitous in our environment, and you have to balance a lifetime of worry over the small risk of the shots. Tetanus is anaerobic, and tetanus prone wounds are exactly the ones hardest to adequately clean. Think a 'through and through' nail to the foot, or severe burns with eschar. Most importantly, disease rates are artificially low because our initial series probably does provide immunity for life; saw a couple cases from Mexico many years back; nasty disease; both died.
Tetanus shots typically contain aluminum adjuvants such as aluminum phosphate or aluminum hydroxide to enhance the immune response to the vaccine.
These adjuvants help the vaccine to be more effective by allowing for lesser quantities of the vaccine and fewer doses.
Additionally, some combination vaccines that include tetanus, such as DTaP and Tdap, may also contain antigens from Bordetella pertussis, which act as an effective adjuvant.
The aP component is worse than useless; seems to confer a lifetime increased susceptibility to the actual disease, and may create an asymptomatic carrier state. And you probably know, the P was killing kids;
that’s why DPT was stopped and TDaP started. Big mistake imo.
May I suggest not getting a Tetanus shot at all ONLY if you need one? Like after you need it cause you can. Haven't ever had one myself.
I’m not saying everyone needs one; just saying assess personal your risk - benefit.

No thanks.
