But others, like me, have already set out on this journey - and we need help. It's worth contacting food producers in your area.

We need community flocks as much as we need to community gardens. I'm producing a small amount of dairy - enough for my family - but from this come many male children. I eat meat and complete every part of the process myself (I write about this here - if you are interested - https://walkingwithgoats.substack.com/p/taking-stock) but those boys are uncastrated and could produce good small flocks of their own.

Decentralising meat and dairy production is kind to the animals, healthy for us, resilient for our communities and harder for them to stamp out.

A goat can be fed on hedgerows.

I am walking mine daily now, to give them what they need in this lean part of the year.
