There's another aspect to childhood autism that needs to be researched and considered which the age of the mothers. As we age each year that goes by raises the risks of problems with the pregnancy. Women have been told for the last 35years or so that its fine to have your first child in your 30s or even 40s. Its not fine.

We've only had reliable contraception since the 60s, condoms were used from the 16th century, but latex ones date from the 1920s. women used to bear children at all ages. I think the fashion of having your first child later in life will only account for a small percentage of the additional cases of autism.

I think you are certainly right that we should stop exerting pressure on ladies not to bear children in their 20s. I got pregnant at 28, and I had it so instilled in me that kids would ruin my life that I booked an abortion on the spot. I then thought about it, I had been to university, I owned my flat, I had a career, I really couldn't have been more ready. I cancelled the abortion. My girl and boy are now 26, I was carrying the gift of twins! : )

I think the health and health habits of mothers carrying babies is important. I see so many mothers placing their cell phones on top of their stomach while pregnant. And they have wifi all surrounding them in their homes. Also very important what they eat while pregnant.
