When I was a kid, Belgium where I am from, provided its own food for the whole population and had some left over to sell abroad. Then, about 50 years ago, industry took over, lots of good farm land were destroyed to place industrial plants on them, yes they made lots of jobs but they also destroyed the small farms and now Belgium heavily relies on foreign food. The land cannot be recuperated, just like land in India and other eastern countries, where farmers destroyed their lots with salty water to raise shrimp etc. But I think the only solution is to down scale things again. It is obvious that the dreams of gates and co are in fact nightmares, at lots of African tribes and groups have already loudly proclaimed. It destroys land, crops, families, tribes, lives.
