I told them I’d only test if I could choose one of the swabs from the decanter on the counter and I would swab myself, but I wouldn’t use the test swab that came w the kit and I wouldn’t allow anyone there to swab me. They looked at me like I was looney, but agreed. Results were negative btw.
Later, on the morning of the surgery, when reading through the admission paperwork, I noticed it stipulated that I agreed to allow them to give me even non FDA approved drugs - if I signed off on the document - and that they could keep any of my tissue to use at their discretion without any notice whatsoever of their intent or findings. I asked what if I refused to sign the paperwork to agree to those things. They told me I wouldn’t be able to have the surgery at their facility. I left. That was Blake Memorial in Bradenton.
I found a private practice doctor who had a private surgical facility to do my surgery. I’d asked in advance if these things were required and was told no, so went ahead w the surgery 2 months later. Funny thing was, every member of the staff there was injected twice.
Kali - what a small world! I am also in Bradenton. That's unbelievable what they wanted you to consent to- good for you for finding a private practice doctor to do your surgery! I would love to know the name of your doctor, if you wouldn't mind sharing. I'm not sure if this platform has a PM feature or not. I'd love to be able to keep in touch.
You can email me at kali at kalidass dot com if you’d like. I’m happy to share my doctors name. I am a little further south of you, as is the doctor I used. Please email me. It’ll be great to connect.
