A barn is a luxury that you can do without. Plenty of folks farm without a barn. Lots of folks are going the barndo route as you can build a shell (metal siding and roof) for much less than stick built house. I never said this would be easy but seriously we have to get out of the cities as that is where the troubles will be. As far away you can be the better off it will be for you and your family. Ultimately as @William Brown says - we have to depend on the goodness of the Lord.
The goodness of the Lord is all I have. Not everyone has several, or a few, hundred thousand dollars to spend. You seem to think I haven't seen the prices on land, with and without a house/barndo. People on Substack tend to, mostly, be pretty elite and forget about the rest of us.
@Bandit - Not everyone on Substack is elite. Most folks on Substack swallowed the red pill and see the "Matrix" for what it is. Plenty of folks on Substack are like you and do not have means to purchase land. However you can rent (see @William Brown's story on his property) a house in the country and still be safe. When SHTF, it really will become immaterial as to the distinction between owning and renting. As for the goodness of the Lord, your best bet is to take advantage of that. Meet your neighbors in the country, go to church...these are the folks you can depend on. God does not expect us to roll over and die. We fight for our families and brothers and sisters.
@William Brown - Your experience is sad and I am sorry you lost your home. What this shows is just how little Americans understand home ownership. We do NOT own our property - we rent. US govt. or County Govt is the sole owner. When I bring this up with people they either refuse to believe it or label me a kook. Many folks say it is better to rent as we never really own land. Sad but true. Fortunately you ended up in a better place and that is God working in your life. Cheers!
