If you think 2 to five years if not killed outright is slow, then you do not value life much. People are being tortured to death who do not die quickly. It is a horror that man kind has never seen before. The statistics say over 50% of the world is effected now and maybe this is an E.L.E. due to consuquences of shedding yet to be fully understood.
